Kōchi (高知市, Kōchi-shi) is a Japanese city in Kōchi Prefecture on the island of Shikoku.[1] It is the capital city of the prefecture.[2]
The city of Kōchi is at Urado Bay on the Pacific coast.[3]
It has been recognized as a core city since 1998.[4]

Kōchi developed as a castle town which was the center of Tosa Province.[2]
